The Community of Bungonia are putting on a special party to celebrate the engagement of Anne  Williams and John Wiggan who have been long standing residents of this Community and both of whom have helped to take this Community 'forward'.

As a gesture of thanks, the Community of Bungonia have decided to celebrate their engagement by inviting all of the Community along to this event.  We even invited Anne & John who will obviously do anything just to have a party.

This is to be held on Friday Dec 10th
    at 7pm
    at the Bungonia Hall.

This will be similar to a pot luck dinner if everyone can bring a dish of some sort to share amongst the guests (plus your own drinks)
We are looking for food for the criteria of:
    Entree
    Main Course
    Veges
    Dessert

If you could, please let Diana Moran know if you are able to attend and what you would be able to contribute, so that we don't have too much of any one thing.

If you don't like cooking but would be able to help with a sound system, decorating the Hall etc, then that would be just as much appreciated.
Any ideas for that night would also be appreciated. Games, dances etc John & Anne like to dress up so perhaps we should too.
If you know of others who know Anne and John and who may like to attend, could you please pass this on. They could email me direct with what they would like to contribute.

    Many thanks,
    Diana

    SATURDAY NIGHT 4th DECEMBER:

BUNGONIA PARK SWINGS CANDLE LIGHT SUPPER.

A night not to missed with music ( vinyl 78’s & 33⅓rd’s ) from the new look fifties :

    Ladies attire swinging skirts

and tight pants for the blokes, a must for the evening

    Bungonia Park Swings”

    Saturday 4th. December.

    STARTING TIME 6.30pm

The organizers are selecting lots of music from the 1950’s when Frank Sinatra, Johnny Ray, Doris Day, Ethel Merman, Louis Armstrong & Hogy Carmichael were some of the great stars and we danced to “Golden Wedding”, “Goodnight Sweetheart” “Smokey Mokes” & “Black & White Rag” etc.

There were some wonderful musicals such as “Annie Get Your Gun,” “Oklahoma” Carousel” & “South Pacific”.

The radio stations ran hit parades, the Herald had a “Spot the Cricket Ball” competition with big prize money,

Sydney Uni students had an annual street parade. The police tried to stop some of the floats and lots of people offended by other floats wrote to the papers.

In Sydney, the Eastern suburbs railway was under discussion,

Farmers, Anthony Horderns, Grace Brothers, Mark Foys, Hordern Brothers and David Jones were the places to shop, the trams were still running, Joan Sutherland made her debut at Covent Garden, Edna Everage

made her stage debut and Slim Dusty wrote “The Pub With No Beer”

Weather wise, the day was great and many people were seen to be leaving the Markets with various things under their arms or in their bags. As the years progress we would hope to have a better quality of some of the type of items that were for sale. All in all - it was great to see such a great crowd turn out in such wonderful weather conditions. We thank the organisers, vendors, Quilters, CWA & all the other organisations that went into making today a great day. to view photos of the date - go here   If you would like any of these photos in a higher resolution - up to 34 meg - send an email to bungonia@gmail.com - indicating the ones you want.

*** Wine & Cheese night - Bungonia Hall - Saturday 20 March 2010 Tonight saw a good crowd gather at the Hall for the Wine and Cheese night with around 40 people turning out for another great social night which didn't involve politics or raffles.  It is just a pity that on such a nice night that more of the "locals" couldn't bother themselves with turning up and enjoying the laughter and good humour that often bonds a small Community together. Some of the photos can be found here.

*** Bungonia Heights Bush Fire Management Plan is finally submitted Over the past two months - Committee Members had Drafted the Bungonia Heights Bush Fire Management Plan with the able assistance of Mark Sumich who put the document together and we thank Mark for the effort & work he put into the Draft in v1. The Draft Plan went from v1 to v4 and is now a finalised and a working document that was unanimously adopted by the 5 members of the Committee who attended the meeting and also by the two weekenders who had earlier agreed with the document. Rob Mepham has decided that he no longer wished to participate in the Committee & was not involved in this voting process.
The 'Plan' has now been forwarded to the RFS as a working document and I will let you all know, in the near future, what stems from this document.
